An artist couple confronts the fears of pandemic restrictions through their creativity, digitally unleashing two eccentric performance personas bent on transforming their home into a glittery alternative reality. Stranded on Zoom in a domestic fantasy of spectacle, they reverse gender and share lucid dreams, play out preposterous wellbeing rituals and expose their daily coping routines in an online intimacy that is manipulative, tender and slightly disturbing.
Created as a digital experiment and positive adaptation of studio processes to the shifts in online performance since 2020, Flanker Origami invites you to be digital voyeurs of the erosion of social bonding in a domestic environment through gendered body reversal.
Flanker Origami premiered as part of the digital programme of the 2021 hybrid Edinburgh Festival Fringe and most recently was performed at the 10th Transit Festival – Theatre-Women-Courage (Odin Teatret, Denmark) in June 2022.
